Ok to start the ball rolling. The animation series of BLEACH currently is on EPISODE 167 where there is a switch from the Arrancar arc (post-Ichigo vs. Grimmjow battle) to the introduction of the newest shinigami captain of the 3rd division replacing Gin Ichimaru. Bleach manga however is on episode 314 a turning back in the history of the first shinigami captains and Aizen's past.

Here's the current shinigami captains of Soul Society:

GOTEI 13
1st Division: Commander General Shigekuni Yamamoto Genryuusai
2nd Division: Soifon
3rd Division: Amagai Shusuuke
4th Division: Retsu Unohana
5th Division: vacant (formerly held by Aizen Sosuke)
6th Division: Kuchiki Byakuya
7th Division: Sajin Komamura
8th Division: Shunsui Kyoraku
9th Division: vacant (formerly held by Kaname Tousen)
10th Division: Toshito Hitsugaya
11th Division: Kenpachi Zaraki
12th Division: Mayuri Kurotsuchi (replaced Urahara Kisuke)
13th Division: Jushiro Ukitake

However there is also a special division known as Division Zero or the ROYAL GUARD

Ok. The story outline of Bleach focuses on Kurosaki Ichigo who is an average high school student unknown to him had a hidden ability of being a Soul Reaper. He lives in Karakura Town together with his sister and his father Isshin Kurosaki was also one of the known Soul reapers of Soul Society a century ago and was then exiled together with Urahara Kisuke (former 12th Division captain).

Ichigo finally realized his true strength when a hollow suddenly attacked him. During the encounter he met Rukia Kuchiki a shinigami from Soul Society. Ichigo then was tasked to annihilate every hollow therein Karakura town as he is a shinigami representative of Soul Society in the Real World. During his every encounter with hollows, Ichigo was taught of harnessing his brute strength with the use of his Zanpakutou---the ever reliable ZANGETSU. Before reaching bankai, Ichigo have been taught also of using his Zanpakutou (his sword) initially at shikai form "tenza zangetsu". His bankai form is most suitably called as GETSUGA TENSHOU (Lunar Moon Fang Piercing the Heavens)!

At present, Ichigo has been in Hueco Mundo together with Ishida (a Quincy), Chad (Sado), Rukia, and Renji Abarai (a vice captain) chasing after Aizen and his loyal Espadas, trying to save and rescue Orihime Inoue who has some rare, unusual healing abilities beyond human imagination. Currently, Ichigo had demolished Grimmjow Jaggerjacques (the 6th espada). Gin Ichimaru and Kaname Tousen, both captains had formerly defied soul society and had been on Aizen's side. The ultimate goal of Aizen is to destroy Soul Society and Kill the King of Soul Society. The King was said to be guarded by the Royal Guards of Soul Society which is composed of former shinigami captains in Gotei 13 and are currently promoted to the Zero Division. Aizen needs 100,000 souls in Karakura Town to open the gate to the Palace of the King of SOul Society. He needs the OUKEN to generate and form the key to open the gate.

(the first being the strongest and the last being the weakest among the espada)
